If it wasn’t already clear enough that Piers Morgan is working tirelessly to restrict Americans’ Second Amendment freedoms, the CNN host was honored by an anti-gun group this week.

On Tuesday, the “Piers Morgan Tonight” host received the Sarah Brady Visionary Award at an event hosted by The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

During the event, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Morgan praised the gun violence prevention organization.

“The Brady Center and the Brady Campaign are really wonderful institutions,” Morgan told THR. “They were designed after the attempted assassination of a president, to reduce gun violence in America. No sane person doesn’t want to do that.”

Yet the Senate voted down the Manchin-Toomey bill that would have made gun purchase background checks universal, something Morgan attributes to National Rifle Association bullying.

“The NRA did their normal thing,” he said. “They bullied and traduced people in Washington and threatened them. They said, ‘If you vote for these gun control laws, we’re going to drive you out of power,’ and guess what? Enough cowardly Democrats, in particular, said, ‘OK. You’re right, I’ll keep my mouth shut.’”

The Brady Campaign “works to pass, enforce, and protect sensible laws and public policy that address gun violence at the federal and state level,” according to its website.

Tuesday’s event also honored celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser with the Brady Center Advocate Award. Celebs Stevie Wonder and Kris Jenner were also in attendance.
