Stephen Colbert’s segment last night on The Late Show on the Nevada caucus results were filled with Las Vegas jokes — and graphics depicting the candidates “On the Road to the White House,” with Trump as Oz, and Rubio, Cruz and Carson as characters from The Hangover.
Colbert pointed out how Trump may very well become the GOP nominee now, and he’s not sure if “I am horrified, or entertained,” comparing it to watching a python eating his prey, “and then becomes president of the United States.”
There’s also how the establishment has finally realized that Trump is becoming unstoppable, and the time has come to intervene. “This billionaire having his way with the election is shocking and unthinkable to the billionaires who have their way with our elections.”
Colbert also mentioned how an anti-Trump Super PAC, Our Principles PAC, with much of the money coming from the family who owns the Cubs, which is not a very winning team.
The segment closed on Rubio, with Colbert pointing out the establishment is now turning to hime, and Colbert didn’t have a problem reminding people he wasn’t the first choice. As Colbert added:
