Bill Maher calls Obama administration scandals “bulls**t and nonsense”

You know those scandals everyone is talking about? Yeah, they’re just “bulls**t and nonsense” according to HBO‘s Bill Maher.

The host of “Real Time with Bill Maher” spent part of his show on Friday talking about the scandals that are currently plaguing the Obama administration, even though he doesn’t think they’re a big deal.

“So I wanted to try to divide the show into two different parts for the discussion,” he told his panelists. “One, the bulls**t and the nonsense. You know, the scandals. And then maybe we’ll get to reality, like deficit cutting and healthcare and stuff like that that actually affects peoples’ lives.”

Maher added that people are talking about the scandals only “thanks to the media and the Republicans.” He also speculated that it might not be that bad if the Internal Revenue Service was targeting Tea Party groups.

“Is it unreasonable to target an anti-tax group?” he asked. “This is, after all, a group that named itself after a tax revolt, that wants to abolish the IRS. It’s like when a cop gets shot, the cops kind of take that personally.”

MSNBC host S.E. Cupp pointed out that the actions of the IRS were unconstitutional.

“If you aren’t sufficiently outraged and offended by this, then you don’t really have a good understanding of what our constitutional protections are,” she said. “The government cannot take an opinion on your personal politics and then use the tax code to punish you based on it.”
