We all remember the iconic scene from the holiday classic A Christmas Story when Ralphie’s friend Flick gets his tongue stuck on a cold pole. But have you seen the reenactment on a New York subway?
Improv Everywhere, a group that springs flashmobs and improv scenes on unsuspecting members of the public, recently recreated the scene in a subway train instead of on a school playground.
Three young actors, dressed like the movie characters Ralphie, Flick and Schwartz, entered a train filled with commuters. Schwartz triple dog dared Flick to stick his tongue on the pole — and Flick did, only to get his tongue ‘stuck.’
Passengers in the subway car didn’t quite know what to make of the situation. Some people laughed, while a couple of others seemed grossed out or confused.
The scene was part of Improv Everywhere’s “Movies in Real Life” series, which also recently recreated Spartacus in a Starbucks and Harry Potter trying to find platform 9 3/4 in a train station.
