Neil deGrasse Tyson’s priorities? Democrats first, science (and math) second

Astrophysicist turned celebrity scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson went on a Twitter rant about the President’s budget on Sunday and then again on Wednesday. The scientist insisted that it wasn’t smart to cut big government or small government.

Tyson attacked the idea of cutting big areas of government spending including education, science, and healthcare because Americans need it.

Cutting those areas will make America sick, weak, and stupid again, Tyson said in his Sunday night tweets.

The argument presented by Tyson is short-sighted. The federal Department of Education that Trump wants to cut was created in 1979 when Tyson was 22-years old — does this mean that he did not receive a good education? Or is there a way to teach kids without a federal bureaucracy?

Strangely, Tyson did not commend Trump for signing a bill that expands funding for NASA by nearly $20 billion. If he cares about government spending, he should be praising the President. However, it seems he cares more about being a shill for Democrats first and a man who cares about science second.

On Wednesday, Tyson continued tweeting about government spending and insisted that Trump shouldn’t be cutting funds from small departments like the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and National Endowment for Humanities (NEH).

Tyson insisted they were so small that it made no difference to the overall budget if they were cut.

That’s kind of like telling an obese person that skipping a snack isn’t going make them thin, but that is not a reason for them to indulge in fattening foods.

The debt is exceeding $20 trillion, and cuts are going to have to be made across the board very soon, or millennials will suffer the consequences in the long run. It figures that Tyson being a scientist could understand math, but apparently not.
