What’s Bravo’s next hit television show? It could be “Project Pantsuit,” if former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has anything to do with it.
The well-known pantsuit enthusiast was selected to present an award to Oscar de la Renta at Monday night’s Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, as The Huffington Post reported. During her presentation, she joked about her show suggestion for Bravo’s Andy Cohen.
“I’m going to be pitching Andy on a new show for Bravo,” she told the audience, which included a slew of celebrities and fashionistas. “We can call it ‘Project Pantsuit.'”
After Clinton left the stage, Cohen jumped right on the pantsuit bandwagon.
“Project Pantsuit is totally a go! Madeleine Albright is doing the first challenge,” he told the crowd.
Clinton was met by immense applause and a standing ovation as she took the stage in her blue pantsuit. While some may argue Clinton isn’t exactly a fashion icon, her pantsuits have often caught the eye of the media and political pundits alike.
“I was then, as I am now, such a fashion icon myself,” she said, recalling her first meeting with de la Renta at the Kennedy Center Honors.
The designer, who worked on Clinton’s 1997 inaugural gown and the dress she wore to daughter Chelsea’s 2010 wedding, spoke highly of his friend, pronouncing her the next President of the United States.
And Clinton’s pantsuits seem to have caught on — several fashionistas donned pants while walking the CFDA’s red carpet, including Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera.
