Is the White House amassing an army of young people to enforce its will on the American people? Or are its comms people just really bad at creating hashtags?
On Monday night, White House Senior Communications Advisor Tara McGuinness, actor Kal Penn and the Young Invincibles are hosting a Google+ Hangout to discuss Obamacare and how it affects young Americans. But someone on the White House comms team apparently didn’t think through their marketing strategy, assigning the event the hashtag #WHYouth.

The White House tweeted out this information and Twitter users immediately picked up the similarities between White House Youth and the Hitler Youth organization of the 1930s. Jokes began flying, at the expense of the White House.

Monday night’s Hangout is a prelude to Wednesday, when the White House will host a Youth Summit. The event will bring in 18-35-year-olds to “discuss the Affordable Care Act and other issues with senior White House officials.”
