Speaker Paul Ryan (Wisc.) released a new ad on Wednesday targeted millennials and telling them why they should become conservative and Republican.
The ad sells the classical liberal philosophy of personal liberty that manifests through the free market and limited government, a notion that many conservatives support.
“I get a lot of young people asking me why should I choose the Republican party or conservatism,” Ryan says in the ad. “Conservatism means we want to conserve what is good. We want to conserve what is great. So we want to conserve those great principles liberty, freedom, free enterprise, self determination, so that we are in control of our lives.”
Ryan continued by saying that core principals motivate and enable people to lead a good lives, not just live a good life.
“(Conservatism) it’s animating. It’s optimistic, it’s hopeful, and it’s inclusive because it applies equally to everybody,” Ryan concludes.
