First Lady Michelle Obama’s staff got her a big birthday present today – her very own twitter account!
Yes, the office of the First Lady of the United States (@FLOTUS) launched a Twitter account this afternoon for the Mrs. Obama. The account already has more than 16,000 followers and posted it’s first tweet today wishing the First Lady a happy birthday.
The @flotus Office is now on @twitter & will post updates & pics. When it’s her, she’ll sign -mo. PS: RT to wish Mrs. Obama a #HappyBirthday

While Michelle Obama’s other Twitter account, @MichelleObama, which is run by the Obama 2012 campaign staff, is still up and running, it has sent only six tweets since the election (presumably because the Obama 2012 campaign is now defunct).
So, while the First Lady may be seeking another platform to push her “Let’s Move” campaign, (the account is already following @letsmove on Twitter), stay tuned to see if she uses the account to promote her husband President Barack Obama’s political agenda or even her own. She wouldn’t be the first First Lady to step into politics if she did (ahem Hillary Clinton,) although Michelle Obama has expressed that she has no plans to step into the political realm herself.
