Today, Ohio Treasurer, Josh Mandel, formally announced his candidacy for the United State Senate this morning at a press conference at the Akron Press Club.
In an email to supporters earlier today, Mandel stated, “I am proud to inform you that in about one hour, at the Akron Press Club, we will be launching our campaign kickoff tour for our grassroots campaign for the United States Senate.”
Mandel’s run for the Senate seat currently occupied by Sherrod Brown is possibly the worst kept secret in Ohio politics, as his name is already on the primary ballot. He even got a primary endorsement from the Cleveland Plain Dealer on February 18–nearly two weeks prior to his “formal announcement.”
Considering the GOP primary is on TUESDAY, the announcement today is pretty unnecessary.
