Jeb Bush is unable to connect with a young generation of Republicans, said Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough.
He said that while Bush is not hated, no one is excited about him, and he pointed out that while he views Jeb Bush as having potential to be a great president, he does not think Bush has yet managed to connect with his party.
Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin agreed, “The voices were just loud and clear, they’re not interested in another Bush.”
“They don’t want to send a Bush into battle against Hilary Clinton, even though you could argue by a lot of metrics he’d be the strongest,” he continued.
“The best thing you can say about what they said about Jeb Bush in that group is that he’s got a lot of work to do.”
Scarborough noted that Bush commented, “I’m a Bush, people are just gonna have to get over it’.
“‘Get over it’. That was his quote.”
“It’s not anger or race, they just don’t connect to him,” Scarborough concluded.
