Obama tells Prince Charles that Americans like the royal family better than their own politicians

President Obama has admitted what we all already knew: Americans far prefer the Duchess of Cambridge to Michelle.

At his Thursday meeting with Prince Charles at the White House, the AP reports that the president “whispered” to the royal about how much Americans love the monarchy.

“I think it’s fair to say that the American people are quite fond of the royal family,” Obama said. “They like them better than they like their own politicians.”

Prince Charles politely disagreed. He and his wife Camilla are spending four days traveling the United States.

In Britain, at least, the royals are fairly popular. Prince William and Kate have done wonders for the family’s reputation, and even though there’s been a downward trend in people who think the monarchy will survive, a recent poll found that 55 percent think the nation would be worse off without the royal family.

Obama, meanwhile, has just eked his way up to a 47 percent approval rating.
