Thanks to Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams, the debt ceiling talks just got a whole lot sexier.
The comedian and the NBC ‘Nightly News‘ anchor slow-jammed the news on Monday’s ‘Late Night,‘ resulting in a hilarious but NSFW interpretation of the debt limit battle.
“When it comes to raising the debt ceiling, the President is having a hard time getting it up,” Fallon crooned. “Seems the GOP ain’t rubbing him the right way, especially with the country $16.4 trillion in debt.”
The slow-jammers also poked fun at the trillion dollar coin, Obama’s attempts to bypass Congress and recently disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong.
“Take it from my man BrillieWillie,” Fallon sang. “Ain’t nothing worse than a soft Boehner. Ain’t nothing worse. Especially when it starts leaning a little to the left. And it’s going to take more than a magic pill like a trillion-dollar coin to stimulate growth in the private sector.”
To close out the slow-jam, the duo — accompanied by house band ‘The Roots’ and lead singer Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter — encouraged an end to partisan bickering and an debt limit increase.
While their advice might not be entirely helpful, there’s nothing wrong with pushing a little levity into a tense partisan situation. And who knew Williams was just the guy to “Push it real good.”
