Jimmy Fallon used the words of old pal Brian Williams again Wednesday night to create a video of the NBC News anchor performing a rap tune — this time, “Rapper’s Delight” (feat. fellow anchor Lester Holt).
It wasn’t live, mind you — rather, it was the work of some ace editing of Williams’ and Holt’s newscasts to perfectly match the lyrics and just about nail the rhythm. Fallon’s crew aired similar videos of Williams during his “Late Night” days rapping Snoop Dogg’s “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” Warren G’s “Regulate,” N.W.A.’s “Straight Outta Compton,” and Marky Mark’s “Good Vibrations.” What separates this clip from the others, though, is that it’s longer — 90 seconds instead of somewhere around 30 — and it features a strong guest verse from Holt. It’s comedy joy.
Check out four of the videos below (NBC disabled the Snoop tune’s embedding) and decide for yourself which is best.
And whether or not Brian Williams would’ve been a natural for The Sugarhill Gang.
