George W. Bush Press Secretary Ari Fleischer is reprising his Twitter recounting of 9/11 Thursday morning for the 13th anniversary of the attacks on America.
Last year Fleischer did this for the first time, using six pages of notes from the day in 2001, to give readers an up-close look at how the then-president dealt with the tragedy.
Almost everyone remembers exactly where they were when the planes hit and Fleischer probably does more than most.
Fleischer was with Bush the morning of the attack, and stayed with the president as they got reports of what was happening. He recalled the chaos, the quick decisions that had to be made, and Bush’s immediate reaction to the events of the day.

Approx 8:50: I got a page on my pager (we didn’t have blackberries then and the iPhone hadn’t been invented) telling me a plane hit the WTC.

As soon as I got the page, I hussled out of my car 2tell the Pres. He was shaking hands with school officials – none of whom knew the news.
