10 things we learned Ashley Judd loves today

Ashley Judd has been the talk of the town since rumors began flying last year that she is exploring a run for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

On Friday afternoon, Judd gave a speech and held a Q and A at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  While she was supposed to focus on women’s reproductive health, the majority female audience learned more about Judd and her childhood than they did about reproductive health.

In case you missed one of the most entertaining press conferences so far this year, Red Alert Politics brings you 10 things Ashley Judd loves we didn’t know about until today.

1. Kentucky

The actress mentioned her ‘home state’ at least 6 times.

2. The Humble Brag

If you don’t know, a humble brag is really just a brag that you frame to make yourself look humble while complimenting yourself. Judd’s a master at this.

While telling a story about how she became involved in human rights work, she said of a mentor, “He asked me, ‘Are you going to be an actress or are you going to save the world?'”

She also made sure to point out at

the end for everyone watching the event at home that she received a standing ovation.

3. Herself in general

Judd spent the bulk of her opening remarks talking about herself rather than “reproductive advice.” “You have no idea how much advice I have,” Judd said to the audience at one point during the talk.

She asked, “Have I inspired you?”

4. Eye Kisses

At least three lucky GW students received a wink from the actress mid-question.

5. Bono

“No talk is ever complete without talking about Bono,” she said before segueing into a story about how her best friend Bono called her up one day, so they could start the One Campaign.

6. Name dropping in general

“I interrupted Bill Clinton once,” Judd said, giggling, after she interrupted the moderator, GW Dean Lynn Goldman.

She also made sure to mention popular Democratic New York Senator Kristen Gillibrand.

7. Her Sorority

In case you didn’t know, Judd is a Kappa Kappa Gamma alumna, and after one student identified herself as a KKG before stating her question to Judd, the actress quickly interrupted, “NO WAY! I’M GONNA TAKE YOU HOSTAGE!”

8.Weird metaphors

“Stick with your pig,” Judd advised the room full of students. She explained that the metaphorical “pig” is the thing you’re most mad at that motivates you to do something about it. She told one student that “garbage” sounded like her “pig” and she should just “go with it.”

9. Crying

“I see some people crying, and that’s a good thing,” she told the crowd of college students.

10. College Republicans

“I can’t wait to hear from the College Republicans!”  Judd said when the question and answer portion started. “That’s not a joke!”

To which the Chairman of the College Republicans National Committee  responded on Twitter:
