George Bush makes unplanned trip to 9/11 museum in NYC

George W. Bush paid an unexpected visit to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City Sunday night.

A source for the New York Post said that Bush arrived at 6pm accompanied by his security detail and perused the museum during its regular hours.

“He was clearly moved by the museum and its contents,” explained the law-enforcement source, emphasizing the fact that Bush appeared to be truly affected by the exhibits in his first visit to the museum.

“You could clearly see that this was something he had wanted to do for a long time,” the source added.

The former Republican president reportedly seemed quite emotional when looking at the exhibit “The Final Column,” which features a beam from one of the Twin Towers that was harvested from the debris and preserved for the museum.

Though museum customers were careful to give Bush his space, the former present did make the effort to shake hands with Port Authority police officers during his outing.

The 9/11 museum has certainly seen some high-profile guests as of late. Just last week, Prince William and Kate Middleton made a stop at the 9/11 museum during their trip to the U.S.
