President Obama will take time out of his busy schedule to appear on NBC‘s “Meet the Press” Sunday morning, despite the fact that the fiscal cliff crisis has not been resolved.
And despite the fact that host David Gregory was slated to be on vacation this week.
And despite the fact that Gregory is being investigated by the D.C. police for bringing a gun magazine onto the show last week.
Obama will appear on the show for the 11th time, according to The Hollywood Reporter, but for only his second time as President. It will be his first “Meet the Press” visit of his second term.
As The Washington Times notes, the last time Obama was on the show, it was to push the health care act in 2009. The Times also writes that there has been speculation that the President might be trying to strengthen public relations should the country go over the fiscal cliff, allowing the him to then blame Republicans.
This isn’t the first time the POTUS has prioritized a television show instead of the real issues. Before the 2012 presidential election, Obama made time for the ladies of ABC‘s “The View“ instead of meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Instead of using his time wisely and doing his job, the President cares more about projecting a positive public image. If America goes over the fiscal cliff, he has no one to blame but himself.
The show will air just a few hours before the fiscal cliff deadline.
