Utter idiocy was on display at a recent anti-Israel protest in the Capital. One protester in attendance even called the USA “the biggest terrorist organization.”
Mobilized by activist group Code Pink, anti-Israel protesters gathered outside of an annual Christians United for Israel summit at the Washington D.C. Convention Center, where they generated not just noise but also inanity.
One protester, cradling a “symbolically” dead child, suggested that Israel is motivated not by the onslaught of rockets being fired at it by Hamas, but by racism.
“I don’t think it has anything to do with protecting Israel,” he said, as he continued to cradle his pretend child-corpse.
Another protester, citing an unknown wartime precept, postulated, “Israel has a right to defend itself — if there is an equal army.” When asked whether a war is typically fought based on army size, the woman countered, “Well, would it be OK for Israel to come in and bomb Rockville (Maryland)?… Rockville does not have a military.”
Rockville also doesn’t launch rockets into Israel, but, as the protestor with the symbolically dead child sagely noted, Israel is not acting out of self-defense.
Another equally in-tune protester suggested that the Israeli government, in collusion with the United States, is really behind Hamas’ attacks against Israel. Questioned about whether Israel actually orchestrated the kidnapping and murder of three of its own citizens this past June, the woman, betraying a rare grasp of international affairs, pointed to the incriminating fact that Israel knew about the kidnappings right away.
And finally, according to the unassailable logic of one fervent, keffiyeh-adorned man in attendance: “If Hamas is a terrorist organization, the USA is a terrorist organization.”
