Though many nationwide disagree with Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) tactics, hateful rhetoric against the Tea Party darling turned threatening after a man posted Cruz’s home address to Twitter.
According to The Hill, a man named Troy Gilmore Jr. posted a call to action to Twitter on Friday morning alerting the public to “Take down Ted Cruz” and listing his home address in Houston, Texas. Law enforcement officials have begun investigating the threat.

The message prompted a firestorm of responses from others on the social media site who bashed the Tea Party darling. Others, though, defended Cruz.
“Just because you don’t agree with his politics doesn’t give you the right to endanger him or his family,” one Twitter user wrote in response.
Sean Rushton, a spokesman for Cruz, told The Hill the Texas Senator was aware of the threat and had alerted the authorities.
Gilmore, who operates under the Twitter handle @ArmyVet54, identifies himself as a veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy. He has only 25 followers on the site.
This isn’t the first time Gilmore has posted Cruz’s address and used threatening language against the Senator.
“Come people rise up at Ted Cruz home in Houston and take that anti-Christ b*****d down. He deserves everything he gets…” another tweet from Thursday reads.
“Ted Cruz likes late night meetings how about his house … the scum a** Senator,” states another, listing Cruz’s home address again.
Capitol Police spokesman Shennell Antrobus told The Hill they were “looking into that matter.”
