Paying the bills: Hillary, Bill Clinton raked in $25M for paid speeches since start of 2014

The Clinton clan must have some seriously massive bills.

According to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal, Hillary and Bill Clinton have raked in an impressive $25 million delivering 104 paid speeches over the last 16 months.

From the Journal:

Mrs. Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, released the figures on the same day her campaign filed a personal financial disclosure statement going back to the beginning of 2014, which is required by the Federal Election Commission. Mrs. Clinton’s financial disclosure reported assets ranging from $11.3 million to $52.7 million. She reported no liabilities. In her last financial disclosure before leaving the State Department, which covered 2012, Mrs. Clinton reported assets totaling between $5.2 million and $25.5 million. Government officials are generally required to report financial information in ranges, rather than specifics.

Unsurprisingly, these earnings rocketed the Clintons to the top of the top 1 percent earners in the United States, which will undoubtedly prove a problem for Hillary as she strives to appeal to regular Americans throughout her presidential campaign.

From the start of 2014 until now, Bill delivered 51 speeches and Hillary, 53. Though the former secretary of state was forced to halt her speech-giving career when she made her campaign official, the former president will continue to exchange remarks for cash, claiming in an interview earlier this month that he has “to pay [their] bills.”

Bill Clinton’s speeches have proved overtime to be especially lucrative. During Hillary’s careers as a U.S. senator from New York and later secretary of state — a span of 11 years — Bill accumulated $105 million for giving paid speeches.

And, since departing 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., the Clintons have made at minimum $130 million for their speech-giving duties.

That’s a long way from “dead broke.”
