Are we watching an episode of “Keeping Up With the Clintons?” Newt Gingrich certainly seems to think so.
In response to Bill Clinton’s defense of his wife’s latest out-of-touch comments, Gingrich compared presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton to reality star Kim Kardashian on Tuesday’s edition of CNN’s “Crossfire.”
“You have to understand the problem Bill Clinton has. Bill is to politics what Fred Astaire was to dancing. He is just automatically amazing,” Gingrich said. “And he wants to have a Ginger Rogers out there dancing, just as Fred Astaire did. But instead, it is a little bit like watching Kim Kardashian get kicked off the set by Prince.”
Gingrich was referencing a 2011 appearance by Kardashian at a Prince concert at Madison Square Garden. Prince had called Kardashian up on stage, but quickly kicked her off with a loud, “Get off the stage!” when she refused to dance.
Gingrich wrapped up his statements by saying, “I think there’s a big problem, because I don’t think, as a candidate, that [Hillary] dances very well.”
Bill Clinton attempted to come to the rescue after Hillary made a series of comments about their post-White House wealth during her recent book tour.
He argued that it was “factually true” they had been broke upon leaving the White House and that his wife was not “out of touch.”
We can only hope “Keeping Up With the Clintons” doesn’t last for the nine seasons Kardashian’s show is currently working on.
