Uber drivers will start using AMBER Alerts to help look for lost children

Uber drivers: doing the job of cab drivers by day–and now police by night.

The car sharing service announced on Wednesday that they have struck a new partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Business Insider reported that Uber drivers will receive AMBER alerts when a child goes missing in their area.

Tens of thousands of drivers in 180 cities, 30,000 in New York City alone, will be using the AMBER alert feature.

Uber isn’t the only tech company to use AMBER alerts. Facebook and navigation system Waze have integrated the system to look for missing and/or lost children.

No word yet if New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will stop vilifying the car sharing service.
