John Boehner’s turkey brine 101 is fit for the Food Network

Is John Boehner angling for his own cooking show gig?

Boehner posted a short instructional video to his Facebook page on how to get the perfect “Boehner brine recipe,” which he says he has been perfecting for years, and is “the result for the ultimate #Thanksgiving turkey.”

“I decided a number of years ago I would try to brine a turkey,” Boehner explains in the video, “and found some recipe online, worked on it and tinkered with it. Over a period of about five years I settled in on my current brine.”

Boehner has bragged about his brine game in the past. He cooks Thanksgiving dinner for his family in Ohio, and in past years has also served up an early Holiday meal for his aides in his Capitol Hill apartment.

Harry Reid is, sadly, not nearly as skilled.

“I’m cooking nothing,” Reid told reporters.

You can check out more recipes from Boehner’s full Thanksgiving spread here, including creamed spinach and stuffing.

Boehner’s fine-tuned brine recipe requires garlic, salt, pepper, bay leaves, and a “secret ingredient.” Watch the clip to find out what it is:
