According to a recent survey of Germans, American liberty is falling to pieces.
The poll shows that more than half of the German population thinks the American government doesn’t respect freedom.
According to the Washington Post, the percentage has been shifting, especially due to what Pew Global Research calls the “Snowden Effect.” Since Edward Snowden’s leak of NSA documents there has been a worldwide decline in perceptions about American freedom.
Pew found that the majority of people from Turkey, Argentina, and Russia thought that the U.S. government does not respect its citizen’s freedom, though Germany is the only country where more than half think so.
Even in America it’s an issue. Since 2013 there has been a 15 percent drop in the number of citizens who think the government respects their freedom.
