When it comes to Hillary Clinton, everything is calculated, at least according to a former agent on her security detail.
Dan Bongino, who served as a Secret Service agent for Hillary and Bill Clinton, alleged on social media that Hillary’s decision to nickname the van taking her across the country for various campaign stops “Scooby” — reported by CNN — is nothing but a calculated ploy to appeal to voters.
Bongino served on the Clintons’ security team starting during Hillary’s 2000 U.S. Senate campaign in New York. Part of his 2013 book “Life Inside the Bubble” is devoted to detailing his experiences protecting the Clintons.
He posted an excerpt of the book on Facebook shortly after the Hillary “Scooby” story broke which describes how he and his fellow Secret Service agents nicknamed the 2000 Clinton Senate campaign vehicle “Scooby-Doo” because of its color.
He labeled the “coincidence” of the two “Scooby” named vans evidence of “how inauthentic the Clintons are.”
“In isolation, I wouldn’t hesitate to laugh about this and chalk it up to a humorous coincidence but, with the Clintons, nothing is coincidence,” wrote Bongino. “Everything with the Clintons is manufactured, even Mrs. Clinton’s ‘nickname’ for her van.”
“Are you ready for Hillary? If so, then get ready for an entire campaign season of deception, fabrication, untruths, mistruths, spin, and verbal judo the likes of which you’ve never seen before,” he added.
Bongino served in the Secret Service for 12 years before retiring during the Obama administration. He later ran for Congress in 2014 as a Republican in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District, ultimately losing to Democratic incumbent Rep. John Delaney.
