A Georgetown University board member has resigned after tweeting his wish for a female conservative commentator to have a “#MeToo moment.”
“Wishing you a #metoo moment. Maybe then you won’t be so insensitive,” Jeff Bernstein, an advisory board member for the Master of Science in Foreign Service program, wrote in a now-deleted tweet to Allie Stuckey on Saturday, which was in response to her stating, “The #metoo moment is a symptom of a broken world.”
The #MeToo movement began in the wake of many prominent men in entertainment, media, and journalism being exposed for sexual misconduct. The movement has since been encouraging women to speak out about their experiences with sexual harassment or assault.
Hi @Georgetown — someone on your MSFS board just told me he hopes I get sexually harassed or assaulted. Is this the kind of standard your university holds for your advisors? pic.twitter.com/O2CLUkYvcR

First: I have NEVER mocked assault. Second: I said it’s a symptom of a broken world, which means I take it much more seriously than someone saying it’s simply a “legal” problem to try to gain political points. Third: You just said you hope I get raped. You’re screwed.

Stuckey’s followers sounded off in disgust.
I’m glad I saw your tweet. Wishing any woman a #metoo moment is absolutely despicable and this is from a woman who has had many #metoo moments. I pray @Georgetown relieves you of your board position. #pathetic #accountability

When we go low, they go high, huh?

Immediately after Bernstein was slammed by Stuckey’s following, he changed his profile photo, cover photo, name, and bio to hide his association with Georgetown University. Eventually, he deleted his account altogether.
This is not Bernstein’s first time spewing vile comments. He recently suggested that Fox News host Sean Hannity “pleasures himself in the dressing room as he slobbers over the thought of Tomi [Lahren].”
In a statement, Joel Hellman, Georgetown University’s dean of the Walsh School of Foreign Service, called Bernstein’s comments “deeply inconsistent with our values and mission” and said that they accepted his resignation.
“The Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University is deeply committed to fostering the role of women in international affairs and promoting respectful dialogue and debate on the critical issues facing our world.” Hellman’s statement read. “Encouraging, threatening or condoning violence and harassment against another person, in any form and on any format, is deeply inconsistent with the values of the program, our school and our university.”
It continued. “MSFS will continue its dedication to preparing women and men for leadership roles in global affairs.”
