Trump calls Romney self-deportation immigration policy “crazy,” “maniacal”

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump became the latest former Mitt Romney supporter to lay into the 2012 GOP presidential candidate on Monday, saying that Romney’s immigration policy was “crazy” and “maniacal.”

In an interview with Newsmax,Trump dumped on Romney and the GOP, saying, “Republicans didn’t have anything going for them with respect to Latinos and with respect to Asians.

“The Democrats didn’t have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren’t mean-spirited about it,” he added.

Trump went on to attack Romney personally,  saying, “He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal.”

While Trump has a point that the GOP did a subpar job reaching out to individual ethnic groups –  particularly Hispanics – and that Romney’s self-deportation theory was wholly unrealistic, and quite frankly an embarrassment to the Party, the words “mean-spirited” and “maniacal” come to mind when describing another person close to Trump: Donald Trump.

As the saying goes, it takes one to know one.
