An attempt to chat with fans over Twitter backfired on Monday for Fifty Shades of Grey writer E.L. James.
The writer chose to spend an hour answering questions via Twitter about her stories. What she failed to see coming, however, were questions like this:
#AskELJames Is there a safe word which will stop you from writing anymore of this bollocks?

And somehow it never hit her that the negative social commentary on the movies would come back to bite her here:
how do you feel knowing you’ve made your riches from convincing young impressionable girls that abuse is ‘love’? #AskELJames

James held on to her dignity throughout the onslaught of angry #AskELJames tweets, and never lashed out.

Some of the tweets were more serious than others…
#AskELJames Seriously, why did you ignore then block me when I told you I was a survivor & suggested you maybe donate to an abuse charity?

Even a couple other celebrities got in on the fun after a while:
“You should do a Twitter Q & A” – E.L. James’ Ex Publicist.
