When Alec Baldwin quit Twitter last December after being booted from An American Airlines flight for failure to put away his cell phone (that Words With Friends game must have been intense), an era of epic Twitter-ranting came to an end.
Or so we thought.
Barely a month later, Baldwin was back in action. And, hardly one to be free from scandal for too long, Baldwin has now found himself embroiled in a new controversy with U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe.
Baldwin, a noted environmentalist and big fan of Al Gore, began to blast Inhofe starting on Saturday via Twitter.
A sample of the tweets:
The comments likely came from Inhofe’s recent television appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show, doing press for his new book, The Greatest Hoax: How The Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future.
The video of his appearance can be seen here.
This isn’t the first time Inhofe has been attacked on Twitter this month by environmentalists. Robert Kennedy, Jr. tweeted earlier this month, “Speaking of prostitutes, big oil’s top call girl Sen Inhofe wants to kill fuel economy backed by automakers, small biz, enviros, & consumers.”
In a statement to Red Alert, Inhofe spokesman Matt Dempsey responded to the tweets:
In truth, the far left and Hollywood elites have lost on their pet cause of global warming. The only way to get attention these days is to make outlandish and irresponsible comments on Twitter. ”
Baldwin is a notorious hothead. Between attacking photographers, blasting Scientology and Twitter-fighting with Michelle Malkin, his latest antics shouldn’t surprise anyone . This is, after all, the same guy who called his own daughter “a rude, thoughtless pig”–and that’s someone that he actually LIKES.
There’s no doubt the vitriol Baldwin spewed about Inhofe was uncalled for and completely rude. But it’s not exactly surprising coming from Baldwin.
