When it comes to settling Thanksgiving Day family disputes, Saturday Night Live may very well have the answer. A sketch known as “A Thanksgiving Miracle” shows a family getting pretty heated. Just when the conversation seems to be getting to its breaking point, the young girl in the room turns on Adele’s Hello.
Each time the song plays, the family members get more into it. They all are shown singing along in dramatic black-and-white flair, complete with nails, wigs, and fur coat to imitate Adele’s look from the music video.
The disputes involve a claim that Syrian refugees are “ISIS in disguise.” Cast member Aidy Bryant’s troublesome aunt asks Jay Pharoah’s character why “your friends keep antagonizing the police.” At one point she says she looks forward to voting for Ben Carson. The grandparents also make comments about transgender individuals.
By the end of the video, Aidy Bryant is outside blowing around in the leaves. The girl in the video closes it out by saying “thanks, Adele.”
The actual musical video for Hello is below to compare.
