Obamacare is the most “pro-life piece of legislation ever seen,” according to self-described pro-life former Democratic Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper.
Dahlkemper, who went down to defeat in the 2010 midterms after voting for Obamacare, similarly describing President Obama as “pro-life.”
This is in spite of his support for taxpayer-funded abortion and his opposition to laws banning sex-selection abortions and granting protections to those who survive abortions.
“He is pro-life,” Dahlkemper said, according to the Catholic News Agency. “He actually signed the most pro-life piece of legislation that this country has ever seen.”
The former congresswoman made her comments on Sept. 5 during the Democratic National Convention’s faith gathering.
She describes herself as “a whole-life Democrat” who believes in caring for people from conception until death and due to her belief in Catholic teachings on social justice.
Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser took aim at Dahlkemper’s inconsistency, saying it was the reason why Pennsylvania voters rejected her.
“It takes Houdini like contortions to make the argument this president is pro life,” Dannenfelser said. “In the name of Roe, he rejects care for children born alive, protection if they are late term or id they are unwelcome girls.
“There is no real difference between her position and that of Caroline Kennedy’s.”
Dahlkemper’s stance runs contrary to that of former Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak, whose last-minute negotiation of an executive order with the President that led to his lifting his objections to voting for Obamacare and its passage.
Stupak now is having buyer’s remorse in the wake of the HHS Mandate.
“To tell you the truth, I’m perplexed and disappointed, having negotiated the executive order with the president,” Stupak said during a Sept. 4 panel discussion sponsored by Democrats for Life of America. “Not only does that HHS mandate violate the executive order, it also violates statutory law.”
