Get ready to Occupy a…beach?

Calling all prepsters in the 1% who support Occupiers in the 99%, but aren’t willing to, well, actually Occupy Wall Street themselves because it’s too cold outside and they have to be at Exeter for their Latin class–Vineyard Vines now has the perfect solution for you!

Vineyard Vines, a popular clothing company for prepsters, recently released this beautiful “Occupy” t-shirt featuring the…wait for it…the occupying of a…beach!

After seeing those shirts, there must be a few Wall Street guys ready to Occupy the beach, right? Occupying never looked so cool!

I really wanted this shirt, but, tragically, it’s sold out. That’s why Vineyard Vines sells clothing to the 1%, they spend their money like there’s no tomorrow, stimulating the economy or something.

There’s been some pushback from the left about the shirt, alleging that Vineyard Vines is trying to mock the Occupy movement by comparing it to Occupying a beach? Were they? Vineyard Vines generously responded to the allegations:

Here is a comment about the t-shirt from brothers and co-founders, Shep and Ian Murray:

“We left our corporate jobs in Manhattan to pursue the American Dream. With a lot of hard work and perseverance, our business continues to grow and we feel grateful everyday to our employees and loyal customers.

Everyone who knows us knows us [sic] we’d rather be on the beach than behind our desks, hence the inspiration for our “Occupy” design. As businessmen, we understand the severity of the economic climate and its impact on the industry. However, by nature we are lighthearted and never take ourselves too seriously.”

I agree, let’s not take this too seriously. Whatever you want to Occupy, a beach, Wall Street, the library, go for it! That’s what America is all about. As long as you don’t use a public street as your bathroom like some Occupiers do. That’s just wrong.
