The people of Argentina have been suffering from economic malaise for generations. Over the last twenty years especially the country has experienced a currency crisis, great depression, and high unemployment. Yet, when President Obama had the chance to show them how capitalism could make their life better than socialism, he said “do whatever works.”
“Often in the past there’s been a sharp division between left and right,” Obama said in Argentina on Wednesday. “Between capitalist and communist or socialist.”
“You know, you’re a capitalist Yankee dog, or you’re some crazy communist that’s gonna take away everybody’s property,” the President continued. “And those are interesting intellectual arguments but I think for your generation you should be practical and just choose from what works.”
With all due respect Mr. President, Argentina did choose the path of socialism, and it has been an utter failure.
