This Idaho sportscaster deserves a prize for best costume.
Paul Gerke reported for KIVI in Boise, Idaho on Halloween night dressed in a stellar Ron Burgundy getup. He sported the classic red coat and ample mustache, and spewed perfect Burgundy-speak without breaking character amid his co-anchors’ laughs.
Weaving classic Burgundy quotes into his sportscast, Gerke puts most other Anchorman impersonators to shame. His best Burgundy lines include:
“Ribs, I had ribs for lunch,” which he said at the top of the sportscast while picking his teeth with his pinkie finger.
“I’m in a glass case of emotion!”
“Don’t act like you’re not impressed.”
And, of course, “You stay classy, Boise.”
The original Anchorman flick was released in 2004, but Will Ferrell and the rest of his news team, including funnymen Paul Rudd and Steve Carell, reunited recently to make a sequel to the film. Anchorman 2: The Legent Continues is slated for release on December 20.
In addition to trailers for the upcoming film, Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy has also appeared in commercials for the Dodge Durango — which Gerke naturally alluded to while in-character.
