It’s no secret that Jay-Z has a cozy relationship with President Obama, but this week during an interview with Hot 97 in New York City, the “Picasso Baby” rapper revealed that sometimes they share texts.
“Yeah I’ve spoken to him on the phone and had texts from Obama, of course,” Jay-Z said before stopping himself. “Not, ‘of course’–stop it, just stop it, you’ve got to stop yourself sometimes,” he said laughing, trying not to look arrogant.
He classified the president as a “regular guy” who’s “heavy” into sports. “A lot of his analogies end up in sport,” Jay-Z explained. “I don’t know if this is like breaching national security–when he was getting elected the second time, he’s like, ‘hey, you know, fourth quarter, give me the ball,’” the rapper said, impersonating Obama’s chatter about wanting to beat Mitt Romney.
