John Fund says The Daily Show selectively edited his remarks to make him look foolish

Conservative columnist and American Spectator Senior Editor John Fund, told participants at the Faith and Freedom Conference Friday night  that even the smallest degree of voter fraud could have  immense  repercussions unless Voter ID laws are enacted.

He pointed to possible voter fraud in Minnesota  that may have led to Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) getting elected after a series of recounts and courts battles by 312 votes as an example.

Franken provided the 60th  vote that Senate Democrats needed to overcome the Republican filibuster of Obamacare.

“We should all have the right to not have our votes cancelled out by someone who doesn’t exist, or someone who votes twice, or is an illegal immigrant.” Fund said.

According to Rasmussen Reports, 73 percent of Americans think that asking for a voter ID at polling places does not discriminate, and 64 percent think voter fraud is a serious problem in the U.S.

Jon Stewart recently skewered Fund for supporting Voter ID laws on the Daily Show.

But Fund told  Red Alert Politics  that most of the substantial parts of his argument were edited out, such as the fact that last minute campaign contributions also have to be reported within 48 hours.

Daily Show reporter John Oliver saw a problem with a proposed Florida Voter ID law that would require anyone who registers a new voter to file the paperwork within 48 hours.

Despite the “selective editing,” Fund said “I knew what I was getting into [when appearing on the Daily Show] beforehand.

“I understand selective editing, but to pretend that I had no answer to answer to a question? I didn’t actually stare blankly into the camera.”

Despite the dishonest editing of the segment, Fund said it was still good to get his point across anytime the Daily Show does a segment he is interested in.

“I am glad I did the show.”
