New York DJ used Young Jeezy’s ‘RIP’ to pay tribute to Oklahoma victims

A New York City DJ landed himself in hot water on Sunday night at the Hot 97’s annual summer bash after using an inappropriate song to pay tribute to the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes.

Calvin Leburn or, as he is better known, DJ Mister Cee, asked the crowd for a moment of silence to honor the Oklahoma victims — which would have been an admirable gesture if the DJ had played a song that actually honored the victims.

Instead, he played “RIP” by Young Jeezy, which features the lyrics, “RIP We just killed the club, drink patron out the bottle almost killed a thug, When I’m so high, I can’t feel the drugs, Too many haters in here, I don’t feel the love.”

The inappropriate gesture was not taken lightly and many took to Twitter to voice their disapproval of Cee’s poor taste.

DJ Mister Cee is no stranger to controversy, however. The DJ and Hot 97 radio personality was arrested in May after he allegedly agreed to have sex with a prostitute, who was said to be a supposedly male undercover police officer. The New York DJ denied the allegations and stated that he was not gay and had never engaged in homosexual activity.

Still, rumors of the DJ’s sexuality have continued to circulate, especially since this is the second incident of this nature.

In 2011, Mister Cee plead guilty for loitering with the purpose of engaging in a prostitution offense. In that case, the prostitute was identified as a 20-year-old male, Lawrence Campbell, who is also known as Brook-Lyne. According to MTV, the DJ said that he has been addressing an addiction to prostitution ever since.
