Chris Rock supports the “whitest” presidential candidate in new Obama video

In a new video, actor and comedian Chris Rock supports the “whitest” presidential candidate in this election — and he’s not talking about Mitt Romney.

Rock released his video through ABC‘s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Saturday. Kimmel introduced the video by saying Romney has a strong lead among white voters, but Rock looks to change that. The message from Rock targets “undecided voters of the Caucasian variety,” Kimmel said.

In the video, Rock tells viewers he has “a special message for white people.” The comedian says, “In times like these, you need a white president you can trust,” before saying that president is President Obama. Rock lists a variety of reasons why Obama is the “whitest” candidate, including the fact that Obama was raised by white parents, he has a Portuguese Water Dog, not a Pitbull or Rottweiler, and he went by Barry for the first two thirds of his life — a moniker that is the third whitest name in America, according to Rock.

The comedian pokes fun at racial stereotypes, something that has caused heated discussion in the YouTube comments section. “After college, Barry went into the black neighborhoods in Chicago to try to organize people,” Rock says. “How white is that? Black people don’t go into black communities. We don’t have to. We’re already there.” He jokes that Romney is even blacker than Obama, because the Romney family “has more people in it than a Tyler Perry movie.”

Since liberals are often the ones to play the race card, it is ironic Rock released such a racially-charged video, even if it is a joke. But since MSNBC‘s Chris Matthews believes whites want to oust Obama from the White House just because of his race, maybe this is a last-ditch effort to dissuade those voters.

Rock’s video drew plenty of laughter from the “Jimmy Kimmel LIve” crowd and already has more than 800,000 views. While the ad is funny and sure to capture the attention of young people, it is doubtful that undecided white voters will really be swayed by the video.
