Obama’s plan is “to be one of the nastiest, divisive presidential candidates in the history of America,” RNC Chairman says

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus criticized Obama on Thursday for his attack campaign against Mitt Romney.

“He’s got nothing,” Priebus told Red Alert Politics following a visit to the RNC’s Arlington, Va. Victory Office. “The only thing he can do is tear down Mitt Romney. That’s his plan, to be one of the nastiest, divisive presidential candidates in the history of America. That’s his plan. I don’t think it’s going to work. People want a positive outlook for America.”

During his visit to the office, Priebus shook hands and stood for photos with volunteers, who were making get out the vote calls for Romney. Preibus also held a press conference during his visit. At the press conference Priebus reiterated the RNC’s attack that the Obama campaign’s focus on the three b’s — Big Bird, binders full of women and bayonets — was in direct contradiction to Obama’s previous statements. As highlighted by a recent RNC ad, during the 2008 campaign, Obama said, “If you don’t have a record to run on, you make a big election about small things.” Priebus said the focus on these ridiculous topics shows Obama is a “small-ball player.”

“Right now, this President — you know, he’s acting like this is a high school student council election,” Priebus said. “You know, this is about the future of America and how we want to be as a people and what type of country we want to have, and he’s talking about Big Bird — it’s a joke.”

When asked about how the Romney campaign is targeting the youth vote in the last weeks before Election Day, Priebus told Red Alert Politics it is focusing on hitting college campuses and “talking about the same issues that young people care about.” He said the RNC and the Romney campaign were pushing to have a young voter turnout much like that of Reagan in 1980.

“Look, the pixie dust is gone on college campuses in regard to Barack Obama,” he told Red Alert Politics. “When you have 50 percent unemployment for college students graduating, working in jobs that don’t match their degrees, not making the money they need to make to pay off the loan — you know, it’s hard to have the magic of Barack Obama in ’08 when that’s the reality that college students are facing.”
