Liberal Panelist: Conservatives Hate Students

The Left’s fight against Voter ID laws took an odd turn today at the Taking Back the American Dream Conference in Washington, D.C. as liberals tried to claim that in addition to Latinos, African-Americans and disabled people, conservatives also hate students.

On a panel this morning’s Reversing the Right’s Offensive on Rights panel Executive Director for the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights, Barbara Arnwine claimed the Right’s push for Voter ID laws, which would help ensure that only United States Citizens are voting in U.S. elections, are a “purposeful and deliberate attempt” to suppress the voting rights of people throughout the country by what she could only describe as forces of “concerted evil.”

“Think about this, back in 2006, there wasn’t one state that required a photo ID to vote,” Arnwine said.

She painted a picture of conservatives who want to “restrict” the vote in any way they can, including the vote for Latinos, African-Americans, the elderly, people with disabilities and students.

“Oh my God, they hate students,” she said, nearly bursting into hysterics.

Arnwine said some students are left out of the voting process because they register the day of elections and many states are passing laws that won’t allow same day registration. She said it was a concerted effort to stop students from voting because they tend to be more progressive.

Arnwine said conservatives wouldn’t know what hit them once the Left started fighting back full force on Voter ID laws.

“They didn’t count on us, because we know how to wage war.  They had 40 states in their crosshairs, but it would have been worse [without action].  We are the determiners of what is the outcome of this fight.”

Although the Right was portrayed as attempting to “suppress” the liberal vote, the purpose of the Voter ID laws – stemming voter fraud – was never taken into consideration by the panel.

The Left has said that rolling back Voter ID legislation will be one of it’s top priorities in 2012, with major liberal organizations, including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), La Raza and the AFL-CIO, announcing last week they would work together to stop Voter ID laws at the state level.

This afternoon conference attendees marched down to former Bush administration employee Karl Rove’s office to make a citizens arrest of the American Crossroads founder for attempting to disenfranchise Americans by funding organizations that advocate for Voter ID laws. No surprise, Rove was nowhere to be found.
