Hillary: ‘I Wouldn’t Keep Any School Open That Wasn’t Doing A Better Than Average Job’

Hillary Clinton made a major gaffe Tuesday, saying at a townhall meeting in Keota, Iowa, that she would close underperforming schools.

“This school district and these schools throughout Iowa are doing a better than average job. Now, I wouldn’t keep any school open that wasn’t doing a better than average job. If a school’s not doing a good job, then you know it may not be good for the kids. But when you have a district that’s doing a good job it seems kind of counterproductive to impose financial burdens on it.”

Here’s a question for Sec. Clinton: Without a school choice program (which you oppose), where would these kids go when you close their schools?

In some school districts, every school is below average. What then?

One has to hope she had a brain freeze, because if she meant what she said, the consequences would be disastrous. At this point, it’s hard to even figure out what she was trying to suggest.
