The two new members of Congress who don’t have public twitter accounts

A mere five years ago politicians were just learning how Twitter could help them spread their message and connect with their constituents. Today, having a Twitter account is almost a necessity to being elected for higher office.

Of the 79 new members of Congress, only two don’t have public Twitter accounts.

Sen. Angus King (I-ME)

Incoming Senator and former governor of Maine, Angus King is so Independent he doesn’t even need a Twitter to say in the know. King’s campaign website links to @AngusKing2012, but according to Twitter, that page “…doesn’t exist!” Will King get an official @SenKing or @AngusKing account?

Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA)

Newly-elected Rep. Doug LaMalfa of California has a Twitter account, @DougLaMalfa, but it’s locked. Just what is he hiding? He probably just wants some privacy, but now that he’s in Washington D.C., he’ll learn quickly that everything is public on the national stage.

If you’re looking for members that do have Twitter, C-SPAN put quite an amazing list together.
