Ted Cruz reports for jury duty

On Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz did with a smile what many Americans only do kicking and screaming (if they can’t get out of it, that is) – jury duty.

Although the Senate is in session, the Texan was spotted Friday morning at Houston’s Harris County Jury Plaza, shuffling through a juror selection process along with 100 others, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The freshman Senator posed for photos, sipped his coffee and even wore white socks (Gold Toe?) under his black cowboy boots.

Cruz said this was his first summons for jury duty and that he “was happy to come down and do my civic duty,” though few expect him to be selected.

“It would be a bit of a complication if I ended up in a six-week trial. That would be in some tension with getting back to Washington and doing my job representing Texans,” Cruz told reporters. “But I think at the end of the day that’ll work itself out.”
