On Thursday, political commentator Ben Shapiro blasted the president for his treatment of Israel, calling the Obama administration “anti-Israel” and “borderline Jew-hating.”
As Gaza militants continue to launch rockets into Israel, the Obama administration is “asking a state that is under the constant threat of rocket attacks aimed at civilian centers to ratchet down its targeting of those rockets,” Shapiro said in an interview with Fox News.
“This is an anti-Israel administration. It’s the first administration in American history that is obviously anti-Israel,” he said. “It’s borderline a Jew-hating administration.”
Shapiro also called out Obama for not cutting off aid to the Palestinian Authority after the PA formed a unity government with Hamas in June. Because he did not do so, American taxpayer money has effectively been funding a terrorist group that is now sending rockets into Israel, Shapiro said.
In June, Israel mounted an offensive against Hamas after Hamas operatives kidnapped and murdered three Israeli teenagers, one of whom was a dual U.S.-Israel citizen. In response, Gaza militants unleashed an unrelenting rocket assault on Israel.
Shapiro took Obama to task for his response to the kidnapping and murder of the teens.
“For three weeks the President of the United States said absolutely nothing and finally, when he did say something, he said that Israel should act with restraint with regard to the people who had kidnapped and killed these boys,” Shapiro said.
Shapiro also warned that the wedge being driven between the U.S. and Israel by the Obama administration will “embolden Israel’s enemies and enemies of the United States.”
