Plane attempts scary landing in England

Talk about a bumpy landing. A plane approaching the Birmingham Airport in England on Thursday attempted to land twice and was nearly forced into a sideways position by strong winds, as reported by ABC News.

The video of the unsuccessful descent shows the Emirates Airlines Boeing 777 coming towards the runway at a right angle before going back up into the air. The plane was carrying passengers from Dubai to Birmingham and had completed almost seven hours of flight time. After the two unsuccessful attempts, the pilot flew the plane 100 miles further to Gatwick Airport in London where the plane landed safely.

After the flight, a passenger of the 777 reportedly wrote on Twitter, “Never flying again.”

Surprisingly, no flights were cancelled during the heavy storms, according to a Birmingham Airport spokesperson. The plane arriving from Dubai was not the only to experience the ill effects of the windy weather; a plane operated by Brussells Airlines also had a rough, albeit successful, landing in Birmingham.
