An FBI investigation into how Hillary Clinton handled classified information with her private email server she used as secretary of state has recovered some emails that Clinton said had been deleted.

The FBI reported that “it had not been very hard” to recover messages, according to the New York Times.

The Clinton campaign has said personal emails were deleted from the server before they turned over the emails to the State Department. It is unclear how many emails the FBI recovered.

David Kendall, Clinton’s lawyer, said that Clinton had no reason to turn over the server, but she gave it to the State Department in August.

After recovering the emails, the FBI had agents dividing them between personal and work-related messages, Blomberg reported.

The FBI investigation will continue for several months.

The drawn-out controversy surrounding Clinton’s email use, among other reasons, has helped drive down Clinton’s poll numbers among Democrats. That has been good news for Bernie Sanders as well as Joe Biden, who has not announced his candidacy, but has the support of 25 percent of Democrats, according to a recent Bloomberg poll.

If more revelations of the private server hurt Clinton’s image, Biden could announce and become the Democratic frontrunner.
