Romney/Ryan campaign shirts donated to Kenyan students

Much like a sports team that has lost a championship, when presidential running mates Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan lost in November, one question remained — what to do with the T-shirts? Answer: donate them.

About 200 kids at a school in Nairobi, Kenya are now repping the Romney/Ryan logo and “Believe in America” slogan, after receiving a donation of the shirts on July 4.

A Knox County, Tenn., Romney campaign donated the shirts to a non-profit organization called The Orbit Village Project. The county campaign director, Alexander Waters told The Daily Caller that the group decided to donate the shirts because his aunt, Cyndy Waters, runs the project. Its American base is in Sevierville, Tenn.

“I mentioned to her that we had a lot of shirts and that we were wondering if they had a need for them and she said, ‘Yes, that would be great.’ So instead of putting them into a storage unit or something we were like, ‘We can generate some good out of these shirts,’” he said.

“I’ve been over there and a shirt can go a long way,” he added.

Cyndy Waters told Buzzfeed that the students are well aware of who Romney and Ryan are, and many had watched the debates that were broadcast internationally on CNN.

“Kenyan students love to talk about politics and very much admire the way Americans handle elections,” she said.

“President Obama, being of Kenyan descent, has even more so brought politics into the classroom,” she added.
