Sarah Silverman to loyal Sanders’ supporters: “You’re being ridiculous” [VIDEO]

Comedian Sarah Silverman, a Sanders’ supporter during his campaign, addressed his loyal supporters during the first night of the Democratic National Convention yesterday evening with the message: “To the Bernie or bust people, you’re being ridiculous.”

Silverman took the stage at the DNC alongside Senator Al Franken, also a comedian and an avid Hillary Clinton supporter.

The two comedians made their presence known quickly, beginning their address with a clarification of where their political ideologies lie. “This year, I’ve been #I’mwithher,” Franken stated. Silverman then chimed in, saying, “and I’m Sarah Silverman and this past year, I’ve been feeling the Bern.”

Silverman than went on to discuss Bernie’s agenda regarding Citizen’s United and the ‘evil’ relationship between wealthy businessmen buying politicians, mentioning how pleased she was that Hillary ‘vowed to overturn it.’

“Not only did Bernie wake us up, he made us understand what is possible and what we deserve,” Silverman noted, with loud chants from delegates in the audience. “Bernie showed us that all of America’s citizens deserve quality health care and education, not just the wealthy elite.”

Silverman worked to relay the message that though many Bernie supporters continue to reject the presumptive Democratic nominee, Clinton is with Bernie and many of the issues at the forefront of his campaign.

CNBC reported that Sanders has endorsed Clinton for the Democratic nomination, and is encouraging his loyal supporters to also fall in line.

“Hillary heard the passion of the people, the people behind Bernie, and brought those passions into the party’s platform, and that, that is the process of democracy at its very best,” Silverman observed.
