Donald Trump was scheduled to speak Friday night at the University of Illinois – Chicago, but Trump’s campaign was forced to cancel the event after hundreds of protestors infiltrated the event == and protests outside began to get out of hand.
As we had reported, 50,000 people signed petitions to stop Trump from speaking at this event, but the university insisted on continuing on with hosting Trump because, as the university Chancellor Michael Amiridis said, “we endorse the idea that the answer to speech that one does not like or finds offensive is more speech and not censorship.”
While the university supports free speech, clearly many of their students do not. Reports say many (or most) of the protestors are UIC students.
Instead of allowing Trump to speak, many of the protestors’ goal was to shut down the event altogether.
